Autodesk Vault 2023 aims to facilitate collaboration across enterprise teams, from design to manufacturing, the app continues to deliver a modern, connected experience. Authors, administrators, and team members alike will find value in the new enhancements.
This article will help you understand each of the new features implemented in the latest version of Vault and how they help you focus on your work, connect designers and remote supervisors with Vault data, and increase collaboration at work.
What’s new in Autodesk Vault 2023?
Improvements within AutoCAD
Improved AutoCAD Vault plugin and Inventor Vault plugin. Designers can stay within AutoCAD and access design project progress information such as History, Usage, Where Used, and Change Orders on a design. In addition, they can perform many of the routine Vault tasks such as Assign Item, Copy Layout, Go to Item, and Go to Folder in Show View.
With these AutoCAD features, you’ll have a smoother workflow that allows you to spend more time turning your ideas into great products.
Instance Properties
Instance Properties in Inventor allow you to identify local components from other applications where identical components need unique identifiers. You can now use Vault instance properties within Inventor.
Vault 2023 can view the BOM properties. As a result, each model instance with a different value is displayed ungrouped in the BOM. When there are instances without unique property values, they are displayed as in previous versions.
Interface improvements
The interface includes dark and light themes in Vault 2023. The Vault client version has been updated with a more modern look to provide a more integrated visual experience across Vault’s desktop, web, and mobile solutions.
Switch between dark, light, and classic themes to reflect visual alignment with other Autodesk products. The user interface theme controls the color of the application icons, frame, background, property panels, and dialog boxes. Also, the Vault icons complement the interface of the Dark and Light themes. The new Vault icons are clean, modern, and have a better color display.
Markup improvements
Reviews and notes are inevitable in the product development process. Vault makes it much easier to comment on markup, including adding notes, information, and suggestions for design changes.
In Vault 2023, the ability to flag layouts has been implemented in more areas than just the change order process. For example, a view can be bookmarked in the View tab of the file browser at any point in its life cycle. Once the markup is complete, the data can be saved within the Vault for future viewing or saved as an image outside of the Vault.
The brand browser panel allows supervisors to view, rename, and delete a brand. However, they can only remove the mark they have created.
Thin client users can also collaborate and provide feedback on designs by marking directly in the viewer. Once they’ve completed their markup, they can save it as an image file and send it to whoever needs it.
Autodesk Vault Administration Enhancements
Colors of the life cycle states
Vault 2023 introduces color customization on lifecycle status within its definitions. For example, you can scan a list of files and quickly identify files by their lifecycle status.
Design File Restrictions
In Vault, the Enforce Restriction for Check-In of Design Files feature prohibits checking in designs using the Vault client’s drag-and-drop or Add Files command. Unfortunately, layout file types or extensions were hard-coded, which made this restriction difficult to enforce, as some file extensions might not be considered layout files.
In the Vault 2023 release, administrators can define the list of files or their extensions (dxf, dwg, sldprt, etc) that can or cannot be registered when this restriction is activated. Additionally, administrators can add file extensions to the list defined by the designer for more flexibility.
Vault-Gateway
Collaboration is easier with Vault Gateway. New in Vault Professional 2023, we’re delivering on the promise of easier access to your data from anywhere, on any device. Vault Gateway provides a secure connection to designers who are outside your network firewall but need to access Vault data, all without the need to create domain accounts for these individuals, and without the need to give them VPN access. . We all know the challenge and time this effort would have taken in the past.
